Website design

Different businesses have different website needs, there is no one size fits all solution. Here at Emu Creek Marketing, we will work with you to understand your needs and help you pick the best content management system (CMS) for your business and budget. Whether it be Wordpress, Shopfiy, Craft CMS or Shopify we can help you.

Content Management Systems

A content management system is the software on which your website is built. This is the software which you will login to make updates to your website once it is built.

Wordpress

Wordpress is the most popular content management system on the web today. Wordpress is an open source software, making it cheap to set up with a plethora of read-built add on functionality at your fingertips. The downside to Wordpress, is that it needs constant updating to keep it secure and up to date.

Squarespace

SquareSpace is also a very user-friendly CMS, however it is not open source. This means it has more limited functionality than Wordpress, however it does not require the constant updating that Wordpress does. The cost of your hosting and domain comes bundled together with one affordable monthly fee.

Shopify

While Wordpress and SquareSpace do both have eCommerce capabilities, Shopify is a content management system designed specifically for selling products online. If you need something simple with strong eCommerce capabilities, Shopify may be the solution for you.

Craft CMS

Craft CMS is great for larger websites and companies who want a custom build. The code is clean and the system loads quickly. This is is not an open source software. Craft CMS websites can only be created by someone with a good knowledge of web development, Craft CMS does not come with pre-built templates. Craft CMS is a great option if you need a fast loading, best practice website with custom functionality.

Design

Once we have determined the requirements, functionality and best content management system for your business it's time to talk about design. There is no point designing a content heavy website only to discover that you don't much to say. We recommend drafting up some content as a first step, so that the information can be displayed the best way possible.

Depending on the chosen CMS and budget, we will either customise a template for you or design your website look and feel from scratch. We have a range of talented designers that we work with in order to produce websites that are beautiful, tidy and functional.

For bigger projects, the design process includes:

  1.  wireframes (functionality sketches)
  2. mock ups (flat image files)
  3. staging (hidden) site
  4. live site
